This interactive multimedia CD-Rom program by Dr. Julie Whitman, Dr. Tim Flynn, Dr. Rob Wainner, and Dr. Jake Magel is designed for students, clinicians, and faculty. The user is guided through the medical screening, physical examination, diagnostic decision-making, and therapeutic interventions used in the management of the lumbar spine, pelvis, and hip region. A wide range of interventions are presented including muscle energy, mobilization, manipulation, specific exercise, and self-mobilization and stretching procedures. Over 140 high quality videos are included, each of which can be stopped and analyzed at any point in the sequence. The videos are combined with clear and concise technical descriptions to facilitate the understanding and performance of all the procedures presented. In addition, the CD-Rom includes 60 full color patient handouts. These outstanding handouts complement the therapeutic procedures demonstrated on the CD-Rom and can be easily printed for individual patients. In order to further assist the clinician a number of printable forms are provided including medical screening forms and patient self-report forms. The authors have provided an incredible array of supporting evidence for the clinical examination, diagnostic decision-making, and the intervention strategies. Evidence summaries are written in a clear yet succinct fashion. Furthermore, evidence-based practice tutorials are provided along with key teaching points and hot links to a number of web based search engines. The authors’ goal is to empower the users with the tools necessary to stay current in the rapidly evolving field of musculoskeletal care.
